Definition of an Optimist

My son's company received this laptop by courier. It came with a request for a quote to have it repaired. It appears to have been run over by a car, or possibly a truck. Now that's optimism.

  1. You want optimism? My husband would actually try to fix it. Seriously.

  2. It's fixable, just buy a new one and transfer the stickers.

  3. Update: He plugged it in for a laugh and it seemed to boot. Today he's going to hook up an ext monitor (if the socket still works) and see how far it goes. If he hasn't got time, I'll do it at home. If the guts still work (bit of IT jargon there) I can put them in a decent wooden box and connect it to the TV and WiFi. This is looking good!

  5. Quote him for the price of a new upgraded model, + 25%, and see what the client's reaction is. If he agrees, get a 50% deposit, hand over the new shiny one and say 'And you thought I couldn't fix it'.

Don't take any cheques and make sure that the dignitary is correctly placed on any notes they hand over.

Might have to organize a burger breakfast in the coming month.
    Stay tuned at Morgana's site.
Oh, and I'm on twitter now if anyone wants to negotiate the cyclone wire I've set up around my account. Mostly I've done it just so I can spy on the rest of you.

  6. If it boots up, just send it back to him that way and call it deconstructed. If he complains, tell him it takes a subtle intellect to appreciate the postmodern.

  7. Ah, my son will love that! NOT a fan of postmodernists.
